Math
We are now learning all about fractions and are currently adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators. Students may find a common denominator by creating a model as we've done in class or by finding the least common multiple. Here are some video links to review for students that are confused or need a refresher. Please click on the links to learn how to solve fraction problems. Next we will get into multiplying fractions and then dividing fractions. Fractions are 50% of the 5th grade math EOG and are an anchor (very important standard) for students to be prepared for middle school and beyond.

Students NEED to know their math facts in order to be successful in 5th grade and beyond. We will be multiplying/dividing decimals and fractions this year and finding common denominators. Please make this a priority at home! Spend 10 minutes a day on Xtra Math. It's free and really works! Students have their log in information glued into their agendas.
